On a 27-inch monitor (the most common size for 1440p), the pixel density (around 109 ppi) sits in a comfortable sweet spot: sharp without requiring OS scaling.
Mid-range GPUs handle 1440p well in most titles. An RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT, for example, can deliver 60fps or above at high settings in demanding games, and well over 100fps in competitive titles.
The limitations:
High-refresh 1440p monitors (165Hz and above) at quality levels that suit this resolution cost more than their 1080p equivalents. This is a monitor budget question as much as a GPU question.
4K (UHD): high fidelity, at a cost
